MM2 crashes when using steering wheel

Hi guys. I've been trying to use my wired Xbox 360 steering wheel in MM2, but the thing crashes the game. Even when you have the controls set to keyboard, the game will crash if it's plugged in. EVERY OTHER PC GAME I HAVE (including the 1998/1999 NFS Hot Pursuit and High Stakes) is compatible with that steering wheel, but not MM2 (or MM1 for that matter). Can anyone help?

Pretty strange. It happens to me too, when I connect my Wiimote via Bluetooth and try to play with it.
