MM2 won't start

I got a new computer (Windows 10 Creators Update 64-bit, 8 GB RAM, 1 TB Hard Drive) back in April, and I just installed MM2 on it. When I try to run it, I get this error:

Code: Select all

--------------------------- Midtown2.exe - Application Error --------------------------- The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022). Click OK to close the application. --------------------------- OK ---------------------------
Anyone else have this problem? How do I fix it? :( This is the 1st time I ever attempted to run MM2 on Win10. I installed DGVoodoo v2.54 so I wouldn't get a bunch of lag, but I never tested it before that. I also tried using Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter, but it didn't help. Running as Admin, Windows XP SP3 didn't help either.

You require a patch.

It's always better to install the official patch, use the speed boot and patch it with the Heap Patcher, after the game installing. If you're using a copy of the game fodler and you already did these things before, then it's fine.
Check the EXE file properties and set the compatibility mode and to always run it as administrator. In this page you can read more about that error.

Got exactly the same problem here. And I have patched it, used the speed thing. Still get that error message.

Same thing with me. I patched it with the XP patch, used dgVoodoo, installed the speedboot, and tried running as admin (with compatibility set to Windows 7), but it still gives the same "0xc0000022" error.

I found some more info about that error, which personally I never experiences. It can happen with any kind of application, it's not related with MM2 specifically. This page gives several explaining to this error, hoping to figure out something.

Hmm yeah. Just to add, I also tried:

> The method in that youtube video

> Running an xp virtual machine, but don't know to run a game within it...I don't know how to transfer my MM2 folder from Win10 to the virtual xp folders, and virtual xp has no net access to obtain MM2 again.
> Tried VirtualBox, got blue screen errors.
> Fix No.1 on Franch88's page (still have to try the others yet)
> Also tried sacrificing a lamb in Stonehenge at midnight.

Nothing worked. Time for Dosbox I guess. If that don't work, then I'm stumped.

Just follow these steps:

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs.

2. Click on "Turn Windows features on or off"

3. Scroll down and mark on "Legacy Components" then hit "OK"

I hope that helped.

5 or so years I've held onto this game and used this site... Then on and off for the last week I dug out the game and had been trying to make it run on my win.10. I was a couple hours away from giving up. -then i stumble upon this gem! Got it up and running within minutes!

The_Most_Wanted: Rock on dude, this has got to be the highlight of my week at the very least. Whatever you're doing, don't stop doing it! :aprobar:
