MM2 heap patch not working

so i've read the readme file and tried dropping midtown2.exe into the patcher but when i open midtown2.exe i still get the memMemoryAllocator::FindHeap failed on ptr [random numbers]
can anyone help me?
i got win10 pc btw

Try re-installing Midtown Madness 2

Are you sure that the Midtown2.exe file got patched? You can notice this from the change of the modified date of the file from its properties.
