A conversion is a model ripped from another game, and changed for it to work in MM2, for example lights and breakable parts need to be added.

Yep, just like Fuyunyan said.

What you're planning to do is to create your own car 3D model, or as we use to call them, scratch-made cars. Converting a car is the process of taking a complete 3D model made by someone else, either from a different game, a mod for a different game or simply those models you can buy or get for free on websites like Turbosquid, and doing the necessary changes and edits and creating/ adding the different files needed for it to run on Midtown Madness 2 (or any other game you're modding for).

When you go to MM2X download section and see either a car or a map is converted, it means exacly that - the author didn't created it himself, "just" (keep in mind the process can be more or less elaborated, let's not disvalue converting work) made the necessary changes for it to work on this game.

Models you can buy allow you to have commercial rights over them, for example. Of course you won't use those to use on free mods, it's people working on videogames or 3D animations that normally get those for their works.

Visit Riva's corner to get some free models from a couple games to start with. About Zmodeler not coming out with any importing/ exporting filters, I'll help you out. Keep an eye on your PM inbox. :pirata:
