Is there a polycount limit for dashboards?

Postby BUGATTIMAN253MPH » Fri Jun 03, 2016 1:12 am

Okay, you're probably gonna laugh and say 'of course not', this is not the case. I decided to create a dash out of a high-poly interior from a game. However I can't get the car to work after completing the dash and adding it to the .ar file. The game crashes as soon as the track finshed loading. It was the normal error message.

This is the high-poly interior.

I think It's better to make a picture of that dash, UV map it on a flat surface and it will look same but will use less polygons. Just look how I did it on my Dirt3 rally version of Ford RS200 or Mini

I already knew this, and I was even already expecting to don't get an high polygons dashboard to work when I tried it some time ago. Then, 3D dashboards don't always result good in-game, and the fact of being high polygons won't help neither.
That dashboard looks great, and it's a good base to make a 2D one, like Riva and me usually used to do.
