Blue Screen of Death

Postby BUGATTIMAN253MPH » Sun Oct 11, 2015 2:28 pm

I've had a BSOD for quite some time now, I get one that says DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and nvstor64.sys. I've read that DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSODs are usually fixed by updating the drivers for the graphics cards, but for me that isn't the case. I'm just wondering, has there been any reported issues with an NVIDIA Geforce GTS 450? Is it known for causing BSODs?

I've done a small search on the Web and found this page, it might be useful for you: https://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-su ... equal.html. Seems like the user had the same issue you're having and after the solution given the problem was fixed.

I don't know what to do, I'm afraid of damaging the computer even further just from using someone else's resolution to solve my BSOD, it could be a completely different issue.

In this case the only way for is you to create an account on a computers forum like Tom's Hardware or a Nvidia forum itself ( I don't know any specific one), create a topic there explaining the situation and normally people over there use to help. Give it a try. Also you can take it to a computer store but you'll have to pay and there's an high change the only thing they do is to format your hard drive.

Okay, I'm getting help in the Geforce forums, someone might eventually answer my prayer so I can solve this BSOD.

People over there should be more into the subject than us, so you're more likely to get an answer. Let us know if they help you solve your problem.

I get blue screens in my laptop too, but it's extremely rare.

Solved yet !? I get a max of 2 blue screens (Hail death) per week, but I'z like meh. Was worse before I performed that disk repair/defragment as well as registry repair/defragment thingies. And yeah, messing with the dedicated page file memory gave results. Dunno if that's your problem. AVG PC TuneUp gives the power to perform all the 3. Trial version for free.

EDIT: Saw your Help topic in the GEForce forums. Sounds like the PC is starting to show its age. Nothing new since its a 64 bit capable processor with RAM above 4 - 6GB. Happened to me too. Especially when using chrome, playing games and firing up any kind of rendering software. Try what I and this Ital guy said about the SATA and HDD/all physical disks' scan. Sure sounds like a data transfer snag. Try getting everything on the software end covered. My BSOD is something that shows USB_ERROR and whateva. But the actual solution to that was a periodic removal and reinsertion of ALL the connected usb devices as well as periodic disk and registry repairing. Keep in mind, even mine isn't solved completely and I'm still living with BSODs in my underarms before i go to sleep.

Keanu Reeves chose the Red pill and started bending spoons. I chose ZModeler 1.07b and made my own Matrix.

Honestly when a computer begin to show blue screens you're usually in a big trouble. All 3 computers I had over the years that began showing it died shortly after from hard drive failure.

It stopped a freezing error I had, I don't know if it stopped the BSOD though. I have a theory that Ccleaner's reg fix is also messing with the registry and causing the BSOD.

I haven't heard about such software before, so I've done a small search about it. And after my research, I got the idea, from multiple websites, that it can delete files that were required and lead to software problems and errors. Also, I've found this article about Windows registry cleaners over the years and Microsoft's opinion about them nowadays: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/microsoft ... rs-windows.

I've used CCleaner for years, never had a problem with its Registry cleaning feature, nor was it a culprit for my crashes, not that I've had any.
While you aren't experiencing any BSOD nor freezes for a while, and didn't mention the motherboard model & PSU watts, I'd still like to know the brand and model of your PC.

Also, do you know at what exact point you get the BSOD and the freezes?
