I don't think downloading a game that's over a decade old (MM2) is 'illegal'. It isn't a crime or something lol. People do download songs that they're suppose to buy, don't they? What about that?

I do think it's not considered illegal if it's a old game not produced anymore and you can't buy it new from a game store, or if you own the game (like games from other platforms to play in emulators). But thinking you can download games for free and it's legal is just stupid.

The act of download through torrent protocol isn't illegal by itself, but it's what you download from it that can become so if the downloaded stuff is protected by copyright, the so called pirated material.
Everybody is free to download what wants, then. The important, is inform about that the game you're downloading through torrent is copyrighted and its using license should be paid.
