Any in-AR cardata editor?

Postby Doof4294967296 » Mon Mar 09, 2015 7:12 am

I downloaded an addon car. Its nice, but the extremely loud engine sound is like making my ears bleed giving me a bit of headache. Decreasing the output volume is not a good idea. But instead to edit the sound volumes of the cardata. I know the MM2UltimateTweaker that edits carsim for locked .ar files. But the cardata? Are there?

I don't think so. Although, you can try to edit it. .ar files locked with the older locker are possible to open in WinRar, but the files can't be opened or exported. Anyways it's enough to let you check the audio file names and this way create a new audio file for your car in the cardata folder. It's harder to guess the names of the engine sounds on newer add-ons, so you can try to create all new sounds and apply them to the car (to know the basename of the mod use mm2vv, as long as it has a dashboard it will allow you to see the basename in the list of .pkg files). Or you can simply PM the author and ask him for those files, he'll probably give you.

A software to edit those kind of stuff would be really cool though, that's something programming guys could try to create. ;)

I have no problems with the basename of addon cars I know how to view them. Ok you gave me an idea. I'll just make a new cardata for that car and put it in my "! ! !universal_gameupdate.ar" file.

As software idea isn't bad, despite it could get a too little utility. Make a custom cardata .csv file for the player and make a small .ar car patch file is the easier solution.
