It's 16 in Ireland, but I think that's stupid because most 16 year olds in my school are stupid, immature and just complete idiots. I just can't see them being responsible at the wheel.

Imo, the age can be 14 IF the person is known to be mature enough. They must be questioned, and people around them, including friends. If the person seemed positive, then they can start having tests, but they must be limited to small cars. Let's say something as big as a Volkswagen Jetta maximum. By 16, they can upgrade to something like an Maxima I guess, and by 18 SUV's and so on.

Age doesn't really define maturity. I have a 14 year old friend that can drive and obey the rules and all, while I see a lot of reckless drivers who seem 40+.

Opinions on this?

Okay. I know about the characteristics of understeer, oversteer, you know, those things that can save my life, who has the right of way, etc etc.

In Euro Truck Simulator 2 I can drive from France to England in less than 2 days and only had one frontal crash. I totally should get a truck driving licence. :P

COOLGUY, like I said to Seahawk, life isn't a game. When you're playing, you don't care what you're doing. What's the problem in crashing your car on there? Games, even the best simulators, can't give the responsability factor to the player. Some driving schools like in Portugal use simulators as part of the learning, but with a supervisor and being evaluated, and it's one of the very first practical tests, not the most important one.

You Only Live Once. When you're playing Need For Speed or Grand Theft Auto there's a thing called the restart button, in reality if you crash it's game over, no second chances, no restart button.

I remember when i was learning to drive, my dad reminded me quite a few times that its not a video game
Cars are not easy to learn to drive for 18 year olds, 12 is just too early
