Can you use 2048 textures for a car in MM2?

Postby BUGATTIMAN253MPH » Mon Aug 11, 2014 8:24 pm

For cars from Shift 2 Unleashed, can the livery textures be 2048 pixels in size? I tried to do it once but the game crashed, so I was just wondering if it would still be possible to still use 2048 pixel textures.

I don't know but you could always try shrinking them... Maybe half the size (1024)

MM2 supports and can display 2048 pixels sized textures, but because of them the chances of get game crashes while the first loading or while the vehicle selecting get higher. It's better resize the too big textures to the maximum value, indifferently if in height or in length, of 1024 pixels.

It's best to resize them to half size to avoid users getting annoyed about your vehicle crashing. A 1024x1024 texture is about 4MB in memory, but a 2048x2048 is about 16MB. A huge difference!

Alright thanks. Next car: Ford GT40 Custom from Shift 2.
Not much, just a custom version of the Ford GT40, with the 2006 Ford GT paintjobs and an iconic mystery paintjob as well.
