The car's faces would be already mapped, since it comes from a game. Go to faces level > select all. Then right click gmsdr.cdo object (the body of the car) from the object box and click Faces > Properties (make sure SEL is on) and from the new window that appears, under the 'materials' section, select the name of your texture and the car should have textures mapped correctly.

Why does it look black in 3D view? Consider calculating normals? :wassat: Or you have turned all red, blue and green colour amounts of the texture material to minimum?

Better fix that texture, it looks a bit weird. The red pixels are everywhere

It could be because of the normals not calculated, it's typical indeed, but this time, looks more like that the model is all in dark gray because the material with that texture assigned has been applied to it, but it hasn't any UV mapping set up, so it looks all plain colored.
It's weird that the UV mapping didn't came together with the 3D model, it's not good at all, you must attempt to rip the model again.

I got the car and textures with GT2Vol and the cd. The guy said the car needs mapping but never said anything about mapping.

Edit: The textures come on the car with reflection but not right.

You need to UVMap the vehicle yourself.

I probably need to split up the textures. How can I do it?

If the UV mapping of the texture doesn't come with the 3D model, constricting you to do a very long and hard manual remap of it, my advice is to abandon the idea of convert the 3D models of Gran Turismo 2. That's really too much to bear, it's totally not worth and it's not the normality talking about models ripping/importing.
