San Francisco: Bay Area Expansion

I've had an idea in the back of my mind for a few years now, but never really thought of it as a serious project until now because of what it involves... but what if we were to extent the San Francisco level beyond the golden gate bridge? Extent it to cover a portion of Marin County, and the Oakland side of the bay. I posted this image to the MM2 Facebook group a few days ago, just as a sort of concept sketch of what the general shape would be. It got alot of attention, and now several people including aaro4130, carking1996, Midas, and sajmon14 are willing to help make this a reality. As a result, I drew this "beta" hudmap up today, to give a clearer idea of my vision.

(This image just focuses on the Marin County part, I still need to design the Oakland side of the bay, which will be as complex as the main city)

It will be awhile before any progress worth showing on this project will be available, and to be honest, we're still not even sure if it's possible. If it is though, this could possibly be one of the best cities ever made for MM2.

Really ambitious project, absolutely worth to attempt to realize it. In theory is possible. It's really hard for both the probable technical problems that will be faced and for the lot of work to do. Good luck with starting it and get the first encouraging results.

It's amazing and matches my idea! Good work. :D
But the problem is that MM2 will crash by such a big SF. :(

It won't crash if we will do it properly

That's an amazing idea! :o But how will you put all that stuff into the already existing city? Will the roads work with traffic and all?

I'm all for this project and will gladly give any input or opinions on anything. I'd help with building, but I haven't got the hang of that yet.

We wouldn't use ZModeler lol, 3DSMax + HQTM Team's City Toolkit. As well as a bunch of other specially created programs for merging BAI and PSDL files. It's a reality. ;) This is happening. :)

Great idea, In my opinion the MM2 rendition of the bay area was a little lacking compared to Driver.

Anyway... here's some progress. Marin County is pretty much finished at this point, now I gotta design the east part of the bay... which will take a ton of work. As of right now, the roads over there are red, but they'll look proper soon enough.

i've been following this idea since you first showed it on facebook :/ but will mm2 handle it ? what do you think the estimated polycount will be ? what about the lag ? generally this seems too big in my opinion :/ ... hope it works :D
