Police Madness is a total conversion mod project based on the Midtown Madness 2 engine. It will create brand new experience for the fans of MM2. So far by it is planned:
  • Over 20 Metropolitan and City of London Police cars, well picked and reworked to match MM2 quality.
  • Increased and better London with sections from other games mixed together. Inspiration for it comes from 'The Bill' and it's Sun Hill Police Station aswell as 'The Getaway' and it's very accurate London recreation.
  • During development San Francisco and the default traffic/player cars will be eliminated.
If you wish to join staff, just drop me quick message on forums explaining what position you wish to take and what you can do well.

Wow, another cool project! Can't wait for it to become reality.
[*] During development San Francisco and the default traffic/player cars will be eliminated.
So, you'll replace them or what? And how will be SF removed?

Easy. I will remove SF's files and the info file. Not really hard thing to do, as right now I merged all the mm2core, tex and etc files into one. And optimized it aswell, I figured out I saved 44MB after re-zipping it.

Right now I've stripped the actual MM2 down with removing useless files and some exe edits. You can well see it there:

Ignore the MM1 icon, I was just testing.

For now I will concentrate on increasing London and making it more accurate using parts from Midnight Club, Test Drive Overdrive, The Getaway and a bit from The Italian Job (eventually I will completely replace it with MC's one).

Traffic cars will be well picked and reworked from these games into similar style to fit (refer to the Mini Cooper renders above).

The Mini might be lowpoly but for me looks really good, intersting idea for the mod, maybe I would help on something when finish school

Interesting project, it's similar to the never continued one called Midtown Mashup, a mod made using an heavily modded MM2 game as base, and so to be used only with it. Pratically it's like a new game. Sounds great the planned updates to London and its traffic.
Good work with it.

This sounds quite interesting because there are no cities so available for MM2, Good work btw. :D

@Jorge This is more than just a new city. It's a new MM2!
PS: You merged all files into one? How? I tried once, and broke MM2.

Yes, also when I get some time I might release a lot stripped down MM2 version with developer tools so the actual engine can be easily modified.

Anyway, I am currently recreating London. Here are some quick renders of the London map as seen in Test Drive: Overdrive:

I have no actual map drawn yet, but I plan to use the real London map and base make a proper mix from TIJ, TDO, MM2 and MC's London (all the games are using similar texture style and are low poly so it will be absolutely no hard) ;)

Updates:
- Headlight glowball objects no more needed and used by the game engine. I always did hate them and especially when flashing if the car has siren objects...
- Now using *_ni files for taillight and headlight effect as seen here:

More to come soon. Right now I am tweaking the exe and soon, public beta testing will be announced. For more information visit the Forum.
