Hey guys, I threw together a very, VERY quick INST test for Coastal County as it is right now. It's currently untextured, one giant INST object, and even undersized, yet it still feels pretty damn huge!

Oh, and did I mention that the cliffside is so massive, you respawn if you fall off of it? Yeah...definitely not a good sign.

I've been contemplating on downsizing Coastal County or completely rethinking the layout. I'm actually a bit stressed out with the size of it right now and I'm also considering the fact that not a lot of people really care for MM2 anymore. This project is going to take too long with the way it is right now, so I'm thinking about making things a bit simpler. Of course the name will stay the same, but man, this project is just too big.

I want to hear everyone's opinions. I've been inspired to rethink everything by other maps. And if you haven't played the INST version of Coastal County yet, I suggest doing so. It's absolutely HUMONGOUS!

It's humongous? Wow, I really must check it out. And, please keep the bigger version if you can, I do think we could do with another New York City sized project!!

It's a great idea, but nobody seems to want to help out. I literally have only 1 person who's done ANYTHING to help towards this project. I guess people aren't interested in community collaboration projects

What CarLuver's saying is the reality that can demotivate you in creating projects that require lot of time to be realized. The actual map sizes are keeped, the idea is about cancelling the adding of complex stuff that you may have though to add, doing it simpler and maybe leaving more map parts empty.
You're right about the not interest in community made projects, team work is now gone in this community as seems, but at least about me, I usually give some help and support.

I don't know if anyone will wait 3-5 years.

I've never been that great at, or willing to participate in, team projects. But I've been trying. I doubt I'm going to do very much though. I'm lazy.

And it definitely doesn't look like anyone wants to do community projects. Well, other than CarLuver, Franch, and maybe Silent (he always used to, at least, although he seems to be very busy these days). Maybe some others that aren't active here, I don't know.

The source of the cliff problem is that the map is not high enough above the axis. And nice map btw!

Hello everyone. You were probably expecting something like this due to a post I made earlier...I am canceling possibly the second biggest project right next to Archipelago from MM1. I have clearly entered the modding scene too late in MM2's life, and nobody cares anymore. I'll be wasting tons of man hours making this map, but for what? 5 people to play on it? Half of the downloads here on MM2X are just spam downloads, there is no way over 300 people still play MM2 and come to this site on a regular basis and download the mods posted on the front page. In reality, there is only a small group of people, around 5 of them, who even download mods anymore.

So with this said, I'm done. If anyone's interested in having a 3DS version of Coastal County in its current stages, be my guest. But until then, I'm canceling this project. NOBODY CARES.

Please don't stop this! Do you know what the best feeling is? It's success! Your success! You are also doing this for yourself to see what you can do, to find yourself, your character, your personality. And your map can also be used for other games. Just search for it. I'm sure it is possible to use your map for some kind of GTA game or something else. It could be used for Mario Kart Wii too, and in the MKWii hacking scene are more people downloading stuff. And I know 3 people that are still downloading stuff, and I think I know about 400 - 500 people, this would be about 0.6% in average of the whole world.

OK, this number is probably to high, but there are many people still downloading stuff.
