DirectX 10 and Windows 7

Postby Psych0_Gamer » Wed Jan 20, 2010 7:33 am

I heard that DirectX 10 sucks alot of performance!

check this out
https://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1 ... 758,00.asp

20 FPS gap between DX10 and DX9!?..WTF!?...
Im using DirectX 10 in windows 7!

Anybody knows how to "disable" it?
Cause i'm playing GTAIV at unplayable Fps...
I get low FPS in Fallout 3 and The Saboteur

Is there any way to "disable" it?
Or should i just downgrade to Windows XP Pro?

Help!!

Yeah, just like I said in the other topic, Directx 10 is awful performance-wise. I really don't think you can disable it either. That's one reason why I have mainly used XP.

Windows 7 supports the DirectX 11, and it's a very good OS, fast like XP and stable like Vista.
Maybe your problem with bad FPS rating with some games is related because of you graphic card, that may be not powerful with some graphic settings and screen resolutions, and not because of the OS. In any case, when possible play the games that supports the DirectX 10 using the DirectX 9.

Half Life 2 LC does a benchmark, and I got 44FPS on Windows XP, and 34FPS on Windows 7.

And also as a comparison, my Laptop, running Ubuntu got 18FPS with wine.

Benchmark with x16 Antistropic, x8 Anti-Aliasing, Max Detail, Full Bloom Effect and 1024*768 Resolution.
ATi 3850 on Desktop for Windows tests.
ATi 3200 on Laptop for Ubuntu test.

DirectX 10 with windows 7 is not compatible at all. It arises the problem whlie playing a game. So i think you have to WindowsXP with directX because it is lighter than windows 7. It will not create big trouble while you are playing a game.
