New York improved

Hi, I am working on an improved version of New York, the modifications includes:

Almost all objects are now breakable
Working police added*
Road and grass textures replaced with the game ones**
Working animated water added
Traffic replaced with the game one
A coloured map (as the game one***, but not perfect)
Some Blitz races (one with police)
Rain textures added (not yet completed)
Graffiti removed (I don't like the graffiti)

*I had to remove two high-poly ships to let it working (the big cargo ship and the big cruise ship), the car model is the Ford Mustang Cruiser, NYPD version
**With cloud shadows working
***Red for special buildings, blue for water, beige for standard buildings, and green for grass

I would upload it, but I need the author's permission, and I cannot release it as a mod because the police works only if it is an entire city (but the release size should be the half, police car included).

P.S. sorry for my English, I am Italian

Well, if New York won't crash anymore because of the too much polygons with the in-game traffic and without the big ships, it would be a nice improved version. Anyway, nice idea to do that! :D

Great work, but yes, get the authors permission first.

To matt1314: Actually the city is still crashing with some high poly cars, but disabling the pedestrians and/or the police works even with these cars.

To dummiesboy: Yes, I copied the colors from the default maps :lol:


For the permission, I should use the E-mail address included with the original city to contact the author?

Hi. I liked your Italian Police Sirens, and this is a nice surprice from you. Nice to see that there are more MM2 players with modding knowledges. :wink:

These improvements for New York City are great. :D I like especially the new hudmap; you've made this city look more like the two in-game ones.
To release it you have to contact the authors, at least Richard P. (registered here).

Try with it, but Richard P. isn't very active online the last times. Give to him also your improved city for a try.

I told you that he isn't a lot online. The last time that he was online was about 1 or 2 months ago. Try to send a PM to him here.

I tried to send the e-mail to the new address, but is a false address (I received a "mailbox unavailable" error).

I solved the problem, the e-mail was too big (with the attachment), and was never sent, now I sent the request (to the first address) without the attachment.

If he'll reply you asking to try the city, upload it in some file sharing website like RapidShare and give the download link to him.

Please, create new Checkpoints and Circuits races too!!

Not like NY Mod, but London and San Francisco!

I tried to make even circuit and checkpoint races, but I was not able to add AI opponents :(

howdy yall, its been ages since ive ben here. i got the email from supersecret, he can modify and release. i told him about the newer version thats far more stable and can handle higher poly models, such as the traffic included, i find they look more real, but ditching the dumb ships is a good idea. tha map looks great. ill be posting a new project i started a while back, my NEW truck! ... if you havent seen the project on mm2c, it will show up here shortly...
