Racer Car Free Simulation

Postby matt1314 » Sat May 10, 2008 1:01 pm

Hi.

I wanted to play Racer CFS on my PC. I've downloaded the file Racer 0.5.3 v2.0 and installed it. And I've also installed the D1GP mod for this game. But it won't work! I start the game and after a few seconds Windows tell me, that there was a problem and that the application needed to be closed. So I can't play Racer. :(

Any help maybe?
Thanks.

As far as I know there's some compatibility problem with Windows Vista. Do you use this OS? Try to run the game with the administrator rights: right click on the game .exe file and choose Run as administrator.
Try to use also the Windows XP compatibility mode from the file properties.

I don't use Vista. And it won't work as the administrator.
What should I do?

It seems that I don't have OpenGL. Where can I download it?
Or where can I download the drivers?

Racer simulator uses the OpenGL libraries. All the graphic cards supports the OpenGL 2 libraries.
Try to upload your graphic card drivers to its latest version; find them in your GPU brand website, like Nvidia and ATI.

But I was on Nvidia and I've let to examine my graphic cards on this site and the site says that I don't need any update for my drivers.

Where can I get OpenGL drivers to play successfully Racer?

Get it here. Anyway there's no need to install them. Is also important to know if the problem is really this.

Thanks for the download. Yes, it's really this problem. There was an error log file and there was an entry that there was an error with the OpenGL.

Yes, Franch. But I wouldn't risk to download any stuff from this site because I've got McAfee Site Advisor and it tells me that this site is linking to other red sites and that on this site there are 26 red downloads!!! 8O 8O 8O

Image

Should I risk?

P.S.: If you'll find the file OpenGL 1.1 in the list of the totally 1799 downloads from that site it means that this file is infected with a virus, too. This you can only do, when you've McAfee Site Advisor.
Download and install it. Then type in Google "freedownloadcenter" and press "search". Next to the site you'll see a red cross. You move your cursor to there and click on the entry "26 red downloads". There you can look for the OpenGL 1.1 file. If you want you can click the entry under "26 red download", "linked to red sites" and explore the bad sites that are installing malware. Download McAfee Site Advisor from
here. Just look on this site to find the download link.

Thanks.

P.S.: McAfee Site Advisor is available for Firefox and for Internet Explorer.

Nice thing Matt, I've installed it. The firewall, antivirus and Ad-aware don't are enough. This will inform you about websites downloads.

Pratically, that's a website which is possible to download many file, like program installation. Some of them (more than 1000) are segnalated as dangerous files, and 26 of them has red alert. So this websites gives viruses and spywares for free, maybe deceiving the users believing to download other things!
The users comments about that website are very bad too, like that website.
Alexa website is bad too; its toolbar for browses causes system slowings because of data sending to the website; so it's a spyware.

PS: the download window of the OpenGL from that website says that it's from the FTP server of Microsoft.

I think not. Anyway get it from the Microsoft website, as seems that's possible.

Yes, Franch, thanks a lot. I'm a little step moved. Now the game loads in full screen what it hasn't done before I've installed OpenGL 1.1. I've putted the files into the Racer directory and then it loads me the menu. But I can't still drive in Racer!!! :vsad:

Maybe another suggestion?
