WINE and MM2

Postby Anthony » Thu Jan 31, 2008 8:05 pm

OK, I am trying to run mm2 on ubuntu 7.10 gutsy gibbon with WINE 0.4.96

It didn't work at first but I am getting round to fiddling with it. What I now need is DirectX 7? Or 8 or nine or even 10. But I have almost got it working I think.

If anyone has got it working the please let me know. If not then Ill keep trying myself.

I haven't never used a Linux distribution. I've only tried an old Linux Mandrake distribution with boot through CD.
MM2 needs the DirectX 7.0, and I don't think that you can install the 10.0, it's also useless.

Try to do a search on Google. I've found this interesting page about DirectX 9 for WINE: https://directxwine.sourceforge.net/.
The newest DirectX versions has also the older.

I've been playing about with Ubuntu 9.04, WINE and MM2.

Just install wine, run the MM2 setup file and then run the game afterwards.

Didn't have to do anything regarding DirectX...and it even ran quite well.

Yes WINE 0.9.something fixed MM2 mostly, though can't say I have tried it for a while. I have also trie MM1 Demo, that works pretty well too.
