I don't think that that dark spot is given by the paintjob texture, in fact it should be present with any car paintjob color. The mapping issue is probable. Well, if is really hard try to fix it, I would include it, doesn't really matter for this little particular; there's also to say that the Panoz Roadster in the SF traffic have to be few.

Check for hidden faces in that area delete them if possible. Then recalculate normals.
Or just fix the normals manually (Surfaces>Normals>Rotate). There arent many normals on a low-poly car and maybe you only have to fix just one normal on that roof. Piece of cake.![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
