Well, you guys are right in saying it heats up. The fan blows where my mouse is, and it does get my hand fairly hot. :? However, it has several fans in it, so I dont think it is much of an issue.

And to answer Franch's question, it is the base of the GT740, but it was put together by... hold on a sec, *looks at lid*, RKC computers.

And Zac, I will also include gaming info aswell, thanks for telling me. I'm not sure how it performs yet, but I'm sure it's got a beast inside just waiting to be unleashed.

It's cool that you have it now though. Have fun with it.

Well, I have extracted my old harddrive to my new laptop (Almost 90 gigs. 8O ), and I had a chance to try out MM2. The results... not very good so far. It lags when I have cloud shadows turned on, and the textures look worse than my old laptop. However, something tells me that the graphics driver isn't installed correctly, or at all. I tried to install the nvidia control panel last night, and it said it was not found. My dad is gonna look at it later.

So far, I am shocked that MM2 lags like it does. You'd think that a laptop as good as this would run it better. :?

Ahhhh.. MSI didn't show up good for me on the website, The laptop is wonderful, but the website looks un-professional.. Try other games, it should've came with nVidia Control Panel. Call them and ask. I was going to order from them, but the order took too long. I was actually interested in this.

Well, keep in mind that this isn't the MSI one, it is the RKC one, they just used the laptop as a base.

Well RKC Computers seems weird looking also. They should've put this to tests before sending, most 'gaming computers' go through this. Did you have any more problems? Is the speed good? And how does the display look? Maybe they over hauled these things into this computer, most are used for desktops.. You should definitely get a laptop fan for this. Even on reviews, some of the things on this are 'the fastest ever' etc.

Well, 2 factors may take place here. 1st, this is a Barebone laptop, which means you set it up (I think), and also, this was intended for Christmas, so my dad may not have been done setting it up. I'll let you guys know how it all turns out in a few days.

Also, this thing has several fans in it. I see at least 2 vents on the sides, then more on the bottom.

MM2 just does not run very good no matter what setup you have. ;)

Well, after a few days of trying this new laptop, I can say it is a veeeery good one in just about everything, except one.... it doesn't like MM1, or MM2. :( In MM2, it lags if Cloud Shadows are on, and in MM1, it will only use Software Rendering, at the resolution of 640x480...

However, for everything else so far, it is the best you can get. One funny example is with the game No One Lives Forever 2. It has this thing called "Test Settings", and what it does it run a cinimatic from the game to test how well it will run with your current graphics setup. It basicly says 3 things, one says you should increase your settings, the next says you should keep your settings, and the last says you need to lower your settings. On my old laptop, I had to disable most settings, and it said I had to still lower my settings. However, on this laptop, I have everything set to the maximum, and it says I need to increase my settings. :P So it obviously ran very well.

So far, I would give this laptop an 8/10, simpilly because it can run very well, but not run the Midtown Madness series well at all.

Kinda sounds like driver problems maybe? Have you updated the graphics drivers?

LOL, Ok Zac. :P

And yes, I have done everything with the drivers. Maybe the XP mode will help... I'll have to try that this weekend, after finals.

AHH! Yes! I remember I tried Windows 7 off a bootable USB. I remember I had MM2 on it, and ran it. It was laggy, and bad gfx. So I ran it in Compatibility mode- XP. It ran much better, I don't know what was wrong though. This might help. It says its compatible though.
