HQTM-Team question

Postby Storm_Sullivan » Fri Sep 13, 2013 7:24 pm

I know none of those guys are around anymore, but is there ANY way of getting into their files? I'd like to extract the cars from their last mod without the cities, cause well, the cities in half finished state are, well, lame. Its for my own personal use only, of course, though unless the unlock is found there will never be a complete classic madness, but if there is any way, please let me know.

Hey, who knows. If the CM mod files were all unlocked, somebody might pick up the banner, even I might get involved in doing that someday.

We have a file extractor for locked at files that Aaron made. Not sure if it works on that. I don't think anyone tried for that file.

But, it's sort of a.. 'secret' unreleased item. One of us who has it could try and tell you. I don't think it works for some HQTM files, though.

HQTM should've released their lock when they dissolved because any copyright that they might have had as a team is forfeit when the team is no more. But if the file extractor works just to get those cars, that'd be great.

The Classic Madness mod is composed by three files: the main core file, locked; the files for the cities, not locked to allow the cities completing by who wished to do it (according to the HQTM-Team's intentions); and a little "changes" file, to edit to let get custom tuning and sounds for the mod cars, because they use the default game cars ones. Essentially, these are the mods features that are really unfinished.
So, if you don't want to have the two cities of the mod selectable in the game, just don't put its .ar file in the game folder. As far as I remember, the core file it's required to have the cities to work properly, because in it there are some of the textures used in the cities, so there won't be problems in playing the cars and get the mod changes if you don't use also the cities .ar file.
However, kinda weird ask to modify the mod to remove the cities files. Just don't play the cities ignoring them from the menu, if you found them even "lame"... It's only Pleasentville city that's really incomplete with wide empty spaces left, the other one, Forsaken Vale, it's mostly completed. Then, nothing to say about the realization quality, both are greatly made so far.

Pleasantville had a poor framerate for me. And the size of the city files and everything wastes space, so I just want to extract the cars as their own separate files.

I did once manage to extract the whole mod ;)

Just takes a bit of hex editing work
