MM2 Test Video

Postby HummersRock » Tue Oct 23, 2007 4:41 pm

Well, I've made my first mm2 video. It's only about a minute. To see it go here: There's only one problem. I had this video looking great, then I upload it onto youtube and it decides to make my video look like terrible! I mean what the heck youtube? It wasn't over the 100mb limit or anything.

Anyways, it's up right now. So check it out if you want.

The video is good but the quality isn't so good. I've found the MM2 Overhauled Mod and the Shader Mod 2 Gold in your MM2.

Actually they say if you want good quality, it must be this format.

MPEG4 (AVI)
320x240 resolution
30 fps

In Windows Movie Maker, I could only make 320x240 to 25 fps. Use this when editing and saving movies, because they are the best to meet the Youtube Qualities.

Oh btw, you guys can catch me at youtube, my username is DRitual63.

The codec for MPEG4 messed up for me and I couldn't get it working. I've reinstalled VirtualDub and the codec like 4 times each. I did the resolution a bit bigger. I recorded the vid with fraps, saved it with Windows Movie Maker 2, and then made it smaller in resolution and size.

If I could get the MPEG4 working than maybe the quality could be better(along with making the resolution smaller). About the fps, I think when I used MPEG4(I was able to use it once), it made the fps 30 or a little higher, not sure.

Any suggestions on how to get MPEG4 working or what might be the problem?

Just save it as .wmv format, it will accept anyway. Becasue WMM (Windows Movie Maker) cannot make 30fps @ 320x240. Unless you want 30 fps, you need to set the movie to 640x480 and when submitted to youtube, it will look shit.

So I suggest you go with those. (25fps @ 320x240)

MPEG4 worked for me last night lol(no clue why it works now). I uploaded a vid to youtube. I made it 320x240, compressed it with MPEG4, and got it at 30fps(might have already been that). I'm still not happy with the quality. go here to check it out. It was only 7mb when I uploaded it to youtube. Just 29 seconds.

I'm using Movie Maker, the old one (not v2 so mine didn't get 30fps at 320x240).

However, for yours in this case, I might think you have made 640x480 for 30 fps. Or the other case, wrong format. (AVI has bigger size and better quality while WMV has small size and good quality) I could only save at the lowest file size, at 320x240 and 25fps (closest to Youtube Requirements.)

Just wondering, you saved as AVI or WMV? Because I saved mine in WMV at 320x240 + 25fps, and when I uploaded to YouTube, the quality was great, no problems at all.

Here's an example of mine. (WMV, 320x240, 25fps)

I saved as avi. I'll try wmv.
