PSDL Viewer problem

Postby cody » Mon Aug 02, 2010 12:34 am

I get this error message:

"Could not find the main class C:\users\...\viewer.jar. program will exit"

Why does Java say this when I try to open Viewer.jar? (I have Windows 7)

To let work the PSDL Viewer program is needed to install the Java and the Java 3D platforms in the system. Get them here and here.

Now it says "can't find Java 3D". I installed Java 3D, but PSDL Viewer still won't work. Why? Does it have anything to do with me having a 64-bit computer? It worked on 32-bit (with Windows XP). Please Help!

Maybe you need another version of Java 3D, maybe right a 64 bit one, if exists. Search for other versions of it.
Or also, maybe the problem can right be the ones of the used OS, that's more recent and in 64 bit version.

Well, I've said if it exists, I don't know... I've also said to search for other (possibly older) versions of Java 3D support. However, the program shouldn't need an hypothetic 64 bit version of the Java support.
Maybe it's right an issue of the OS (Windows 7 I guess), I don't know what else say...

I found 64-bit Java 3D, but PSDL Viewer still won't work with 64-bit Java (Even in compatibility mode: Windows XP SP3, Run as Administrator). Why?

I thought you'd solved this problem. Please, follow all the procedure explained in this topic about Java SDK and Java 3D installing for the working of PSDL Viewer program, isn't really hard. If that doesn't work, I can't really know what can be your problem.
Isn't needed a 64 bit version of Java 3D, as seems, can't experiment that. The PSDL Viewer program file isn't an .exe one, but a .jar one being indeed a software made in Java language, so you can't set it the compatibility mode or run it as administrator...

Compatibility is for Java. I use Java.exe instead of Javaw.exe because it is more stable. If I had Windows 7 Professional (Why does it cost so much?), I could use Windows XP mode with Virtual Desktop. If I can't get it to work within the next year, I can use my other computer (PSDL Viewer works on it).
