You must extract the textures from mm2tex.ar with Dear 2, then open with the program, but change the *.* to **

sky1.tex to sky1tex or sky1**tex ?

No, in the program window there's a field called "Files filter", with written "*.*"; change it to "**" (without the quotes obviously). BTW this change isn't needed, the program lets display any file type and the files format conversion works the same.
