Mirroring

Postby dummiesboy » Thu Jun 18, 2009 4:05 pm

I know this is a stupid question, but how can I acually mirror an object in ZModeler? When I use the mirror tool under "Modify", it just looks like it has been rotated.

The mirror tool simply flips the object on the axis that you want rotating it on the decided axis. Use the rotation tool or the mirror tool to do the same thing will indeed give the same result.

*BUMP*

I know this is an old thread, but I still do not know how to mirror. What I want is to make the object look like a mirror reflection, like the GGB, and Fine Arts place in the SM2, I do not want it rotated. Does anyone know how to do this in ZM, or do I need another program?

It's very easy. Do a copy of the object that you want to have the mirror reflection effect and rotate it upside down with the rotation tool. With the mirror tool is pretty the same thing: enable only the vertical axis and click on the copied object to get it upside down under the other not edited object.

Just leave the V button on, or toggle to the local axis modify keeping only the Y button on. Now you can edit the vertical axis using the right or the front/rear sides views.

I... still don't understand. Am I supposed to hold the V key, while clicking the object I want to mirror?

For button I mean the button on the tools bar, the one with the letter V, not the keyboard V button.
So, after enabled only the vertical axis, with the tool mirror just click on the copied object (hide the original one) using the right or the front/rear sides views and you'll get it upside down.
