MM2 Ultimate Tweaker program allows to edit only few essential values, and it's the best tool available for cars add-ons tuning editing.
The only way to edit everything of the tuning of a car is edit its files manually by opening them with Windows Notepad and having some knowledge of the values; here's a guide to them. Open, extract and then add again the edited file/s by using WinRAR or 7-Zip programs.

Of course not, in fact nobody can stop you to understand the locking algorithm of the locked files, create your own unlocker software and release it for everybody. Some people might hate you for that, but it's not illegal, even because most car add-ons are converted from games without the authorization of the devs.[...] Oh wait, that is illegal?
But well, anyways it's just a tool for personal use, if somebody created it nobody will mind, it would be really useful for car converters too.

It's illegal in the first place to take models from games and convert them. The author can't take legal action against you for unlocking "their" conversions.
There is an unlocker, however, it's private between a few people for good measure.

Rock, what's this Toyota Supra that you want to edit? Can you post the link from where you got it?
FYI, MM2 Ultimate Tweaker works with locked add-on cars. Where it fails showing the "There's no PKG" error message is with the .ar files zipped with WinZip, locked and not.
The edit of the feature of a game mod is legitimate when done for own personal use.
Yeah, a new similar program would be needed, to be able to change all the tuning files values only opening the add-on car .ar file.We really need a new Ultimate Tweaker for this.
To modify even the locked addon cars. Oh wait, that is illegal?

That's valid for those who sell them, use them in own sold products or get money in other ways through them. Otherwise, probably GameModels.ru, that doesn't use advertisements, had to be sued by some game producer and had to shut down...It's illegal in the first place to take models from games and convert them.
You mean "their" models, because the conversion is their, actually (they put free time and effort to do the conversion). That's however true, but the possibility to lock the own release can be seen as a free legitimate personal choice, also when it's for the mere packing finality. The author can't take legal action against you for unlocking "their" conversions.

Franch, I have to admit Aaro is right. Using another person's 3D model without their permission is stealing someone's property and they can actually sue for that. And more than everybody here, you also know the brands can even sue people since the usage of their names and logos on the mods are not licenced. But, as you said, since nobody here sells mods and the website itself doesn't have adds (thankfully ), people don't really mind about that, mods are an usual thing and their creators don't cause any loss to the original creators or the brands, and that's why they don't sue anybody. But, not doing that doesn't mean they cannot do that.
