About the Windows 10 Upgrade

I have downloaded the installer for the upgrade, but I'm having some doubts.
- If the upgrade fails, will I be brought back to Windows 8?

If the download fails?... Let me tell you this - on my laptop, the upgrade went perfectly smooth, so when I tried to upgrade my mother's laptop I was hoping the same but it actually gave me an huge headache. There's some glitches on the installer where it might lock just like it happened to me, then you'll find yourself on a huge process to manually delete everything and you might screw something like I did, and I pretty much wasted an afternoon finding out what was causing no programs to run on startup and everything saying "stopped" on task manager.
Well, I don't wanna scare you soooo if something goes wrong, there will be a way arround, eventually, and you have 30 days to do so.
