Do you have virus protection?...okay, silly question...

Better, what is your virus protection?

Windows defender is only one part of a two part security. You also need Microsoft Security Essentials (free download). I use the same thing, coincidentally.

Your problem reporting it's too generic... But really anything? For first, see to get and do a scan with a real free antivirus program like Avira Antivir, Avast! Antivirus, AVG Antivirus, Comodo Antivirus, etc. The same Microsoft admitted that Security Essentials has to be united with a third party AV software to have a better system protection. Windows Defender is a malware remover, but is better replace it with an alternative one like Spybot Search & Destroy or Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware.
