i have a idea, based in the trailer engine
You can make a trailer with the proected shadow on it
This trailer can be in one determinated position of the car(front, middle and back)
that turns at same time but not in the some position
if the ligth is in the front of the car, if the car turns 90º the shadow will be on one of the sides of it and if it turns once more 90º the shadow will be in front of the car

other solution is create a mirror model, with the texetres in black

There is only one big problem: You can't edit the engine of MM2 at all

make a trailer with the projected shadow on it

It means a rotatory(based in car movement that means A TRAILER)objet
and the projected shadow can be the shape of the car... no that "square" from the standard ones

And the projected shadow in option 2 is Create the same model, one mounted on the other
and the lower model, in the floor
i think that it isn´t duficult
