New York City circuit races

Hi. New York City 1.2, also known as Manhattan, is one of the best made tracks ever for Midtown Madness 2. The 1.2 version is really cool but... don't have circuit races. I wanted so much circuit races on it so I decided to create my own! After a few hours looking the files of the track and trying to understand all of it, I finally made a playable circuit. It's a conversion of the "Arround Manhattan in 3 min." checkpoint race included in this city, but without the last checkpoint, that was too much near to the finish line, and called only "Arround Manhattan". It's fully playable, but just in beta stage because I would like to have opponents, and I'll make the loading screen picture also (in the same original mm2 style of this city loading pics). ALso, I would like to make another circuit, but totally created by me. Notice that the ar. file with my mods is NOT on the city original ar. file, it's a different one that only has the updated tune info of the track, and the new circuit files.

I don't know if I need permission of the creator of the track to realease this mod, but anyway first I'll finish my V8 Interceptor and just after that I finish this one.

I have a better idea, someone could convert races from Midnight Club, I did one race but Im not planning to do more

Great idea, it's a nice completing. :)
I don't know if I need permission of the creator of the track to realease this mod, but anyway first I'll finish my V8 Interceptor and just after that I finish this one.
What you're making is going to be released as a mod for an add-on track, without the track files included, obviously. So, you haven't to ask for any permission. :wink:

Today I'm continue my work in this little project. I created one more circuit, it's a convertion of the "Central Park Tour" blitz. It has all the same checkpoints, and it's possible to make a circuit. I will also create a 3th circuit, a really big one across all the city. I don't know how to create my own checkpoint places (I know how to work with the values, but I don't know how to calculate the place where I want a chekpoint), so I'll use some of the checkpoints of all the already made races. I'm also creating the loading screen pictures, using the default San Francisco racing loading screens.

The Alpha version is avaliable.

Features:

-> 3 new circuits: Central Park Frenzy (conversion of the "Central Park Tour" blitz race), Arround Manhattan (conversion of the "Arround Manhattan in 3 min." blitz race), Test Race (race in alpha version, it don't has the loading screen or the map ready, the checkpoints are not totally done, and the opponents don't drive properly)

-> Central Park Frenzy and Arround Manhattan have loading screen and maps done.

Don't forget you must have New York City 1.2 in your game directory.

Thank you! Yes, I only made the maps and deleted the original names of the loading screens. I take a bit trying to mae the lettering equal, but it's a bit hard. In the final version I think they are already there. BTW, I'm thinking in add an extra checkpoint to Central Park Frenzy (before the last checkpoint and the finish line) and maybe (I'm not sure if I'll make this or not) I'll make opponents also for Arround Manhattan and for Central Park Frenzy.

Hey guys, to make a little break in car convertions, today I'll be working on this MOD and until the end of the day the new beta version will be availiable! New features in this beta version:

-> Test race is now called "Midnight Madness" (I mixed "Midtown Madness 2" and "Midnight Club" names, and also because this race is set for night time and it's quite big)

-> Map and loading screen done in "Midnight Madness"

-> All checkpoints are correctly positionated on "Midnight Madness"

-> Extra checkpoint added to "Central Park Frenzy"


Things that are not complete and will be done in the final version:

-> The opponents of "Midnight Madness" are not complete, so in this beta version there are no opponents.

-> Names of the races on the loading screens.


The beta version will be uploaded to Mediafire, it will only be availiable in MM2X when complete.
