GTA IV (Liberty City)

I want to get GTA IV, because of the similarity it has to MM2 (Taking a car, and running wild in a city), but I have also heard that there is alot of violence, and sexual content in the game. If anyone has played the game, can you tell me what to expect along the lines of those 2 things?

Yeah, my parents aren't too thrilled by the idea of the game, and they wanted to look into it. I figured some input from people who played the game would help. Launguage doesn't seem to be a problem, because the gave me crysis.

I haven't played GTA IV, but I have played (and have.) GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas. Expect swearing, the finger, violence, etc. Don't know about sexual content because it seems that, other then seeing girls in bikinis and sometimes something less, most of the bad sexual things are in the storyline, so you have to play through the game.

So really, the less you do, the nicer of a game it is.

I don't know how it is in terms of blood and gore. In GTA 3 you could shoot off peoples arms and legs and heads (lots of blood would squirt out where the limb used to be); but some of the blood, gore, and cussing was watered down in Vice City and San Andreas. GTA IV seems to have went in the opposite direction of VC and SA though, so it should be worse. It definitely seems to be worse with swearing then GTA; it seems to be on the level of VC or worse. The swearing in GTA IV would definitely be worse then in Crysis.

I have seen some videos of GTA IV and watched people play it, but not much.

Alright, cool. I do have one more question though, is the story line optinal? Or, is there at least a freeplay mode?

Oh yeah, it is a sand box game (isn't that what they call them?) you can explore the city, steal cars, drive cars, shoot people, fight them, destroy things, etc. You can download save game files I'm sure and have the game completed. There are probably a lot of cheats just like San Andreas. So you don't have the play through the game.

Wow, sounds like my kinda game. As long as I don't need to follow a storyline, and just kinda walk around, and do my own stuff, I don't think it is an issue. My mom is still concerned about the sexual stuff still being there, but I've gotten my dad's vote at this point. Thanks Hummers.

I have this game for PS3. There isn't many visible sexual things but there are many blood or scary effects wich can make your parents more scared

BTW, I want to get the PC version, but have heard alot of bad things, like Rockstar Social, Windows Live, SecuROM, etc. Is this a problem, or are people just over-reacting?

GTA IV has really nice gfx, maybe it will run smoothly for you, it's a great game.

Thanks Zac, I'm sure it will run fine. I can run both crysis games with no problem if I set the graphics a bit lower, but I personally dont care too much about graphics.

Seriously though, what about the SecuROM, Windows Live, and Rockstar Social? Do you guys have it for the PC, and can tell me a bit more? Amazon, and gamespy has different oppinions. Amazon gives it 2/5 stars because of that, but gamespot gives it 4.5/5 stars. So I dont know wether to get it or not.

Amazon gives the game a 2.5? I don't think things like SecuRom will be a problem if you are legally buying it. I'm not sure how it will run, because when it was first released a lot of people had problems running it, etc.

I have it on PC , Social Games is for playing Online.
You must create Windows Live account to save , i take no more than 10 sec
the SecuROM is for activate the game online (using internet) You should do it .
You need to have XP SP3/Vista/ (dunno if it runs on 7)

if you have XP SP2 there's a solution to play with no problems

If SecuROM gives you trouble uhh find a illegal patch... SecuROM is just making sure you own the game and can get in your way. Windows live well just another MS thing helps with online stuff just play offline and it will not be much of a bother. It kinda reminds me of xbox 360 ...

And rock star Social... Never herd of it sorry.

Ok, thanks guys. It's nice to hear that it isn't a big deal. I heard that you have to sign into Windows live every time you play, or you can't save. I hope this isn't the case, but it isn't a huge deal if it only takes 10 secs.

I'm not sure what there is on the radio stations in GTA IV, but it might be a good idea to have it muted. Just in case. Could be some sexual type things on it.
