Windows Vista and Midtown Madness 2

Postby Franch88 » Thu Jul 26, 2007 6:09 pm

For who has asked how MM2 runs on Vista operating system, I've an answer for them. I've got a new computer with Windows Vista and I can say that MM2 runs good like Windows XP without the compatibility mode.
I've not installed it (I've simple copied the game folder with the XP Patch already installed).
Surely installing it with the patch it'll give same results, and after installing only configure audio and video options (besided the controls).

PS: I've noticed some defects about pedestrians and graphics in my computer.

I hope that this information servant of aid to someone. Bye.

I tried win vista ultimate beta till the beta period ended and it worked fine for me coz i never use menu music, it also works fine on xp. The graphics can be sorted by downloading environment mod.

Anthony, I've not reported the menu sounds problem because for me it isn't too important, in fact it will go away after a game play. You've already made this post here, and only in that topic I've said my problem with sounds.

Vista's game adapter is worse than XP's :( so steering sensitivity is much higher and you can't fix it  with the steering sensitivity option so i recomand people to play MM2 on XP

I agree. Vista also makes your computer slower, so XP would be the best option.

It's just like XP really, wait for Vista's second service pack and all the kinks will probably be fixed.

One of the worst ones is when it keeps asking you permission to run mm2. It's maddening! :x

Just disable the account control, this Windows secure function it's so bother. Or you can also run MM2 with the administrator rights.

I think the administrative rights still cause it. Oh well, it works fine now! Thanks, Franch88! 8)

That's all. ;)

The problem is that MM2 and other old games have some problems with Vista, like software compatibility, video and audio drivers versions and other little things. I don't think that the first service pack or quite the future second will give to old games a better compatibility.

I agree. Old games have to stay with old systems, and new games are only compatible with new systems like Vista.

With Windows XP better install the MM2 XP Patch and also the Nvidia graphic cards Patch.
I use Windows Vista on my new PC. It's good for me, but I don't like it's file copy and transfer system, it's too slow and bother with many messages if you're replacing files and folders. Its network manages is good, but Vista doesn't looks many professional, but if you want a new computer is obligatory to choose this operating system (for the DirectX 10). The new SP1 will give more improvements to Windows Vista.
