Wow, I thought this topic was long gone by now. Guess I was wrong. Since I am now back into MM2, and modding again, I figured I'd make some better quality skies. I was trying to use a 'wrapping' method for textured the sky dome, but then I remembered my old idea for a sky box. I tried it with an interesting sky texture this morning, and it actually turned out very well! Using the new method, the skies will be less distorted, and less pixelated. They are now on par with the SM2 sky's quality imo. Here is an image.
So far this is the only texture I have made, which will be the Morning-Rain one. Since I only have one texture loaded into the sky, MM2 is only showing the Morning-Clear setting, which is why it lacks rain.
What do you think?

Great return Dummiesboy. Very nice this new sky, better than your already very nice ones of MM2 Revisited V3. Good luck with the work.
Maybe this time the V4 of this great mod will be released as finished version.

Thanks guys!
As of right now, I am exporting the evening-cloudy sky. Only 4 more to create. (The foggy ones will be a simple 1 color tone.)
@Franch, I would need to finish my old idea for editing the PSDL for SF to create a new entrance for the bay bridge, and I haven't gotten PSDL Viewer working yet. I also need to create a yellowish shade for the tunnels in SF, and maybe some other things. However, if I manage to find the time to do it, I could make the final release of Revisited 4.

What an epic way to return to the MM2 scene! Great work dummiesboy! If what I'm seeing in that picture is really the skybox, then.......just wow! I had doubts about this method (especially what it would look like near the corners of the box) when you described it before and Hummersrock attempted it too, but it seems like you perfected it now.
Maybe I can get my skies in game now (downloaded over 600MB of 360 skies!).

Thanks Silent, and welcome back!
Yes, that image is a sky box, no photoshopping.. It isn't perfect, as you can sometimes see where 2 images meet, but this is only a small part of a few times of day. I've only noticed 4 settings so far, but they aren't an overly huge deal. Blame it on MM2's 10 year old engine.
The one downside to these skies, like previous versions, you need to have textures set to very high for the image to be seamless. However, I may be able to solve this with TEX Editor, because when I set the textures to low for a test, I noticed a few that were still very high quality, such as the cement railings blocking the SF bay for example.
Anyway, I'm almost done with the skies, only the foggy and night left. My favorite so far is the evening rain... so epic.
