The cars result broken only to you because of how you use them, they aren't really broken or so badly made that don't work... All the cars available for download in this website has been tested and work.

As always the rule is the same, don't put too much add-on .ar files in the game folder, because the game can't read too much of them, and so it crashes while the first loading or while the car selection. Keep their number to about 20 removing the cars and track that you aren't using anymore, especially the bigger .ar files.
Essentially more big are the .ar files and less of them the game is able to read and load. It's a fault of the game, because it has a limited reading memory or something similar. Keeping in mind this rule you'll rarely get such problems.
If also doing this the game still does crashes, delete the player folder in the main game folder, run the game and create a new profile.

They still don't work always because of the same reason that I've explained above. Continue to reduce the number of added add-on cars, until you'll be able to play the cars that you want. Try to use with 3 or 4 add-on cars per time, and if the game crashes when you go to the vehicles selecting menu, it's because of a problem related with the latest used and removed add-on car and its last colors in the list; to solve it quickly delete and create a new game profile, or you can also re-add in the game folder the last played and deleted add-on car.

I have tried everything getting rid of all add-on items, deleting the player folder, and the cars still don't work.

How are you playing them? Are you using the Hardware Rendering graphic option? Is always suggested to play the add-ons with the best graphic settings.
Also, have you tried also without mods like traffic and cop mods? Sometimes because of too much polygons to manage by the game can happen that playing an high polygons add-on car it can crash, and a solution to this is to don't use such mods, or reduce traffic and cop cars densities. This happens especially playing a car on detailed add-on cities like Bay City.

If you delete a car from the MM2 folder, next time when you'll start MM2, the game may crash because the previous played car is missing.

When you plan to delete a car, start a cruise or a race with a default car, so you avoid this kind of bug.

The game crashes at the car selection screen, when you select the car the game crashes.
I've already explained this other problem before. To solve it, delete the player folder from the game main folder, run the game and create a new profile, so you'll get the Classic Mini Cooper car selected withotu get the crash, or, place back the last car that you've played and now deleted, if you have and remember it.
I was always sure that the problem is related with this thing to remove the last used car...
If you delete a car from the MM2 folder, next time when you'll start MM2, the game may crash because the previous played car is missing.

When you plan to delete a car, start a cruise or a race with a default car, so you avoid this kind of bug.
This is given because the game selects the last car in the list since there isn't the last used one, because it has been deleted, and if the last selected car has few colors that the one that has been removed, there are more possibility that happens this; for example, adding, playing and successively removing add-on cars will give no possibilities to this issue if is always used the first color of each add-on car.
Before I add a new car I always delete the player folder.
There's no need to delete it always after have tried an add-on car, delete it only whn happen that issue. On the contrary, would be a bad thing delete always the player profile and re-create it.

Delete the players folder is required only if the game don't start with only default files.

Some high poly cars doesn't work with other downloaded addons. Most of the MM2Br cars have a lot of details and I you choose to play them together, you can get a heap overrun msg from an error dialog box.

So, here's a tip, put all of your addons from a new folder (make it), then choose only four or five cars and try them in-game.

Personally I know approximately what addons are working together and those, not.

Depends of your graphic settings and your PC system too.

In other words, remove all downloaded files, take a proper savegame (e.g. the Power or RA), then, adjust the settings (audio, video, gameplay), start a simple cruise from SF or London with a default car. Close the game, put some of your addons, start the game and try. If the game crash, one of your addon doesn't work with the others or your graphic settings (resolution, quality options) are too high.

Ditto for the maps and the mods.

@ Franch : right, it's rather a problem of paints.
