I wonder what is making this happen? Just asking, I noticed it a long time ago but I always just ignore it. Btw, do anyone know why does it release 60 hertz sawtooth wave?

Here's the audio file:

The frequency of 60 Hz is the one of the alternative current in Europe. It should be a ground loop, given by the use of a 3-pin plug, with the central ground pin. Certainly the device is also old, so it could be some circuit shield degrade, instead.
But now the question is: you're still using a CRT television? :P

I have a new flat screen TV now. It would be a shame for me if I was stuck in the old devices. Well I got to admit, I'm still using floppy disk drives too for some circumstances. Well I was just eager to know what makes the 60 Hz ground loop in my old CRT television. By the way, it's actually 12 years old. :D

For retro game consoles, a CRT television would be a smart investment.

Yeah, I agree this, it's the best way to enjoy them like they're meant to be.
