On 6th of this month, the open beta of this free to play game for Windows 10 PCs was released. I'm downloading it right now, have you tried it already? :)

It looks awesome to play, it's a shame that it's only on Win 10 though. :|

Windows 10 AND DirectX 12. Being Microsoft, of course all of this is yet another way to promote their new software and attract players from Windows 7. I'm quite curious to see how the game looks, if the micro transactions don't really ruin it and because it's the first game I'll play that's optimized for the new DirectX.

Well, I have already tested it and played for a bit, and I can say, excepting some minor graphical/ performance issues (but then, beta), it's a very solid game, and it has no microtransactions at all. The physics feel solid, and the graphics... oh boy, the graphics. I took some in-game shots, check out for yourself :P

Better do it ASAP, on a few weeks the upgrade will become paid.

I just tried the game. So far so good, both physics and graphics are great, and until now it seems very rich in content.

For a very long time I haven't played a racing simulation game, playing mostly action/ shooting games and arcade style racing games, so the good ol' keyboard and mouse felt just fine, but just as I was expecting they aren't good at all for this kind of games even more since it bothers me not to play on the hardest modes on any game, and ABS off + brakes either not pressed or pressed all the way down is the first step to failure. I think I'll keep an eye in the discounts for gamepads on my local hardware stores, then. ;)

Also, I think the graphical options could have an improvement. Theorically the "dynamic" option (for those who haven't played yet, the game detects your hardware and sets the graphics options according to them) would take care of that headache for me, however I noticed a very slight stutter sometimes, and trying to play arround with the custom options wasn't very easy. Also, there's no FXAA or other low processor-demanding anti-aliasing system, instead there's MSAA that can be either set to on or "dynamic" - off not being an option. By own experience I know MSAA requires too much of my PC and disabling it gives me room to crank up other settings, but the game doesn't seem to allow me to. Besides that, the game works just fine, temps are super safe (probably because of DirectX 12, it was said it would allow less heating) and I couldn't get Fraps to display the FPS, but they felt arround the 30s.

Unfortunately today I couldn't play more than half an hour because I had to study, but hopefully this week I can explore it even more. :)

I think it doesn't have anti aliasing, because Micro$oft hasn't added it yet to the UWP platform. But they said it's coming in an update, so we'll see...

It's great see a version of this game series on PC, but there are too much limitations. It's always a good start, anyway.

After years of small talk about PC gaming, maybe Microsoft now wants to make a new Steam-like competitor, only on Windows 10 as system united with their Xbox One. It could end like Games for Windows...
