Lighting is now a ~95% match to MM2, and with new shaders, framerate has doubled.
Main things on the TODO list are now better vehicle physics, and AI

Any chance of releasing a beta? I really want to try it out, and I have a good idea for a fictional city that I want to make.

Then why don't you make a fictional city for MM2? I strongly recommend someone should complete this.

I don't plan on making a city (lack of 3D modeling skills, knowledge and, the most important, creativity), but I would be very pleased to try the beta as well.

Because I want to use MMClone's city creator/editor. Based on the previews, it's a lot easier than creating one via ZM1.07b+MM2CT, Blender+MM2CT, or PSDL Viewer. Also, I want to be able to expand the default MM2 cities (i.e. the SF Extension Project, which ended up being scrapped) without any major bugs/crashes resulting from it.

Will that city creator only work with the MMClone or will it let us make cities for the original MM2 too?

Since the latest months, Aaro isn't giving any news about the progress of this project, so I'd say that's on hiatus.
About the city editor based on this project, he said that's still a lot unstable and there are even chances that it can corrupt the files that you're going to edit and save with it. Dummiesboy has used it to do some changes in SF and London for his MM2 Revisited V6 mod, though.

Of course yes. As Aaro announced, and also as the project name says, this project is going to be a most close as possible clone of MM2 in the way that it works but using Unity as game engine. This means that it reads and uses all the same file formats, and so, all the mods and add-ons created for MM2 are going to work in it, too. The same thing is valid with the cities made with the city editor derived from MMClone.

I see. Excellent!! This MMClone is gonna rule
I guess there won't be much of a reason to still play the original game in its original state once the Clone is ready :P but I still wondered how that compatibility worked

Recently, Aaro announced that he could release a very early pre-alpha version on 25th of December. We'll see. :)
