It simplifies the process for MM2 in regards to collision detection. If MM2 had to read every single vertex/polygon, it would probably make MM2 explode

I've read that a car in MM2 must have a 'bound'. It is like a shell that reacts with the environment..... Why is it necessary to make a bound(or whatever its called)? Can't the 3D structure directly deal with the environment?
